Nine new COVID cases, nearly 190 in isolation

Nine people, two males and seven females, were identified as COVID-19 positive by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The facility conducted 1 295 tests on Friday, July 23 and there are currently 187 people in isolation.

Barbados recorded 4 339 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (2 108 females and 2 231 males) since the start of the pandemic in March, last year. The virus claimed 48 lives.

Tests carried out by the lab have reached 208 895.

Public health officials administered 98 905 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccines, while 74 032 people received second doses under the National Vaccination Programme. Those who are fully vaccinated represent 27.3 per cent of the population. (BGIS)
