Forde: Social media comments hurtful

Isolation Facilities manager Dr Corey Forde is urging Barbadians to appreciate and celebrate the Harrison Point facility and its staff, rather than try to tear them down.

“As I read social media, it bothers me that people don’t read the whole story. It’s okay to disagree, but what we should not have is discourse which brings chaos,” he said during a media conference yesterday at the St Lucy facility.

He was referring to some social media backlash regarding the facility apparently having a lack of linen. Forde explained the issue was due to a member of the laundry staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital being diagnosed with COVID-19. This resulted in a temporary shortage of clean linen but he said the situation was resolved within two hours.

The infectious disease specialist said the incident had so demoralised his staff, he spent all Tuesday trying to cheer them up. (CA)
