Netball will remain off the court for a second straight year because of health and safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Barbados Netball Association (BNA) has decided not to stage its annual league and knockout competitions for 2021.

It meant that league champions St Barnabas and reigning knockout queens Pride of Villa have been forced to wait longer to begin their title defences.

“We have cancelled the local season,” BNA president Nisha Craigwell confirmed to NATIONSPORT yesterday.

“With the state that [the country] is in right now and with vaccinations, a lot of our players and administrators will still be at risk as it relates to the virus and we thought it best to cancel.” (AGB)
