More than 170 in isolation

Twenty-six new cases of COVID-19, 14 males and 12 females, were recorded by the Best-dos Santos Public Health laboratory from 1 301 tests carried out on Tuesday, August 24.

There are currently 176 people in isolation.

Since March 2020, 4 720 confirmed cases of the virus (2 303 females and 2 417 males) were recorded.  Forty-eight lives were lost to the viral illness.

The public health laboratory conducted 252 611 tests, since February last year.

As part of the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 104 678 persons have received first doses of the vaccines.  Additionally, 92 025 second doses were also administered and those individuals who are fully vaccinated represent 34 per cent of the population. (BGIS)
