BASSETERRE – Jason Holder gambled the final over of the latest match for the Barbados Royals to long-serving off-spinner Ashley Nurse in the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 – and he lost.

Sheldon Cottrell smashed a six off the last ball of the match from Nurse to give St Kitts & Nevis Patriots an unlikely, two-wicket victory over the Royals on Thursday in St Kitts.

The result maintained the Patriots’ unbeaten start to the tournament with five wins out of five matches, and it condemned the Royals to their fourth defeat in five matches, leaving them rooted to the bottom of the six-team table.

Chasing 161 for victory in the contest at Warner Park, the Pats stumbled to 98 for six in the 16th over of their chase after Chris Gayle returned from injury and hit top score of 42 to give them early momentum. (PR/AR)
