Although this country will not be known as the Republic of Barbados come November 30, some of its organisations will be altered.

That’s the word from Attorney General Dale Marshall, who told Barbadians living in the United States on Thursday night that moving to a republic state will “cause us to make some consequential changes”.

“I apologise for using this example but as Attorney General you’ll understand. Our prison is now called HMP Dodds – Her Majesty’s Prisons Dodds. The police force is the Royal Barbados Police Force. There are a number of things that are of that nature which we will be required to change as consequential amendments.”

The 90-minute online meeting with the diaspora in the US was hosted by Barbados’ Ambassador to the US, Noel Lynch, who is also permanent representative to the Organisation of American States. (GBM)
