In the midst of a barrage of visitors’ complaints about long waits for COVID-19 results, Barbados will soon have three more laboratories for COVID-19 testing to relieve the overloaded Best-dos Santos Laboratory.

Barbados is experiencing a surge in cases, some attributed to the highly transmissible Delta variant of the virus that has a record breaking 607 people in isolation.

An overwhelming number of people have been rushing to get tested and some of them, especially visitors, are complaining about not receiving their results in the promised 24 to 48 hours.

Chief executive officer of the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA) Senator Rudy Grant yesterday disclosed there were plans to establish another private lab in addition to the already operational Crane Hotel lab, while a lab was also due to be opened at the Bay View Hospital in about two weeks.
