71 new COVID cases, 828 in isolation

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory reported 71 new COVID-19 cases from 2 132 tests conducted on Wednesday, September 15.

The new cases comprise 33 females and 38 males; 21 of whom are under the age of 18, while 50 are 18 and older.

The number of people in isolation is 828.

A 97-year-old woman passed away on Wednesday, after spending four days in isolation.  She was unvaccinated.

Barbados has recorded 6 248 confirmed cases of the virus (3 119 females and 3 129 males) and 54 related deaths, since March 2020.

The public health laboratory has performed 290 232 tests.

A total of 123 255 first doses have been administered under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19. To date, 96 715 persons (35.7 per cent of the population) have received their second dose and are fully vaccinated. (BGIS)
