It was honours even between Barbados and Indonesia at the end of today’s first day of their Americas Round One Davis Cup tie at the National Tennis Centre in Wildey, St Michael.

The island’s number one player Darian King made light work of Indonesia’s number two seed 18-year-old Gunawa Trismuwantara, winning 6-1,6-1 to give the home side the lead early on.

Next up for the home team was Kaipo Marshall, who fell in straight sets to Indonesia’s top seed Justin Barki who won 6-2, 6-4 to level the series.

King will have a chance to avenge his defeated teammate on Saturday morning when he teams up with long-time doubles partner Haydn Lewis to take on Barki and Febi Widhiyanto. (Nicholas Maitland)
