Barbadian slow bowling all-rounder Roston Chase said he gained a lot of confidence from his strong performances for St Lucia Kings that earned him the Most Valuable Player award in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) that ended last month in St Kitts.
Chase has been the linchpin for the St Lucian franchise (Kings this season, Zouks last season) over the past two seasons in the CPL, scoring 671 runs at an average of 44,73, and taking 19 wickets with his off-spin at 20.94 apiece with an economy rate of 5.94.
On the back of his performances, the St Lucian franchise reached the CPL final in both years, only to be upstaged by last year’s hosts, Trinbago Knight Riders and this year’s, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
In the coming weeks, Chase will be looking to transfer that Midas touch onto the world stage, after he was named in the West Indies 15-member squad for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup from October 17 to November 14 in the United Arab Emirates and Oman in stride.
