Elderly woman perishes in fire

Police are investigating the unnatural death of a 93-year-old woman in a house fire at Waterhall Road, Apes Hill, St James on Tuesday morning.

She was identified as Vitrose Hinds, who lived alone at the house. Her body was discovered in the rear bedroom where the fire appears to have started.

Fire officials received the report of the blaze around 10:46 a.m.

Personnel from the Arch Hall Fire Station, led by Station officer Small, sub officer Barrow and four fire officers in one water tender, responded to the incident. They were also assisted by some residents. (PR/SAT)
