Barbados produced their best performance ever to finish third at the Rugby Americas North Tournament in Turks and Caicos last weekend.

After losing their opening game to Mexico 22-19, the local boys recovered to beat Curacao 24-7 before being defeated by Jamaica 21-0 and winning in overtime to beat Bermuda and claim the third position.

In the first tournament since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Barbados made a strong start against tournament favourites Mexico, gaining two tries from winger Reuben Norville to jump to a 14-0 lead but conceded a try on the last play of the first half.

In the second half, Barbados looked like winners at 19-17 but after the referee added injury time, Mexico scored to win the game 22-19. Norville had three tries while Liam Caddy converted twice. (AGB)
