A St Michael man was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, charged in connection with an incident on the compound of the Bridgetown Port on August 24, 2021.

He is Rashad Mathurin, 26 years, of Halls Road, St Michael, who is facing charges of trespassing, going equipped, handling, possession and trafficking of cannabis and intent to supply cannabis.

Police say between 8:45 and 9 p.m. on August 24, Port Security Officers were on duty in the Command Centre when they observed on surveillance cameras, three males traversing the inner confines of the Port’s compound.

These men were “acting suspiciously” and Port Security Officers on mobile patrol were dispatched to the area to investigate. On their arrival, one man was apprehended at the scene, while the others, one of whom was the accused, made good their escape.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the accused, who was taken into custody, interviewed and later charged.

Mathurin is scheduled to appear at the District A Criminal Court at the Supreme Court Compless, White Park Road. (PR/SAT)
