Barbadian trainer Saffie Joseph Jr got another two wins on Sunday as he continued his good showing on the United States (US) horse racing circuit.

His charges, Carom and Happy Constitution entered the winner’s enclosure at Belmont Park and Gulfstream Park, respectively.

Champion jockey Irad Ortiz Jr guided Joseph’s six-year-old bay gelding Carom to a three quarters-of-a-length win in the US $66 000 third race over 1 700 metres on the turf on the final day of the fall meet at Belmont in Elmont, New York.

Going off as the 2-2 favourite, Carom recovered from a stumble at the start and tracked the leader before advancing to take over 600 metres from the finish and held to reach the wire in one minute, 48.60 seconds.  (LY)
