Honours were evenly distributed when the Barbados Turf Club opened its third racing season with the Independence Celebrations Raceday yesterday at the Garrison Savannah.
In good track conditions, six-year-old chestnut horse Inspired Adventure, brilliantly ridden by N’Rico Prescod, scored a fantastic off-the-pace victory in the feature 55th Anniversary Of Independence Handicap over 1 800 metres.
Refire led the field in a merry gallop in which he built a five-length cushion along the back stretch.
Voldemort, with apprentice Dbagio Payne having his first ride, was quickly relegated to second position, as Good Vibration and Inspired Adventure crept closer to keep tabs on the leader. (LY)
