Children seven to 12 years old have a chance to say what Barbados means to them, the kind of country they would want to see in the future and win prizes for their efforts.

As part of the Independence/Republic celebrations, the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) has launched the 2021 My Barbados: Our Future composition competition. Thanks to SmartStore Inc.’s sponsorship, the foundation will reward the 55 top writers with a tablet.

The competition, which started on November 15, will run until November 25, 2021. Entrants have been asked to write an essay of 200 to 400 words and to submit a video recording reading the said essay.

The project aims to get children thinking about national identity, the country’s future and their place in helping to make their dream a reality. The NCF believes the project provides a prime opportunity to get students engaged in the national celebrations and to also add their voices to shaping their future. (PR)
