New COVID cases fall to 197

The number of new positive COVID-19 cases recorded on Friday, November 19, was 197 – 97 females and 100 males – from 1 611 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The new cases consist of 42 people under the age of 18, and 155 who were 18 years and older.

There were 854 people in isolation facilities, and 7 664 in home isolation.

No deaths were recorded on Friday, so the total number of people who died from the virus, as at November 19, is 206.

Barbados’ confirmed cases of COVID-19 reached 23 623 (11 312 males and 12 311 females).

The public health laboratory carried out 423 497 tests since February last year.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 152 592 (66.8 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 133 226 (49.5 per cent of the total population or 58.8 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
