Number in home isolation falls

A total of 198 people – 89 males and 109 females – were diagnosed as COVID-19 positive by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Tuesday, November 23 from 1 610 tests.

Of the new cases, 41 people were under the age of 18, and 157 were 18 years and older.

There were 635 people in isolation facilities, and 7 125 in home isolation.

Two people died from the virus on Tuesday. A 67-year-old unvaccinated man, and a partially vaccinated 90-year-old woman both passed away at the Harrison’s Point Isolation Facility.

As at November 23, 2021, 215 people died from the virus.

The public health laboratory carried out 429 377 tests since February last year, and recorded 24 432 cases (11 672 males and 12 760 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 153 165 (67.1 per cent of the eligible population).  The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 135 475 (50 per cent of the total population or 59.3 per cent of the eligible population).  The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older.
