172 new virus cases

The number of positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases recorded on Friday, December 3, was 172 – 81 males and 91 females.  The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 1 454 tests.

The new cases consist of 35 people under the age of 18, and 137 who were 18 years and older. There were 340 people in isolation facilities, and 2 137 in home isolation.

A total of 234 lives were lost to the virus, as at December 3.

The public health laboratory has carried out 441 823 tests since February last year, and recorded 25 964 cases (12 378 males and 13 586 females) of COVID-19.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 153 907 (67.4 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 137 922 (50.9 per cent of the total population or 60.4 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
