UPDATE: Woman charged with murder remanded

A young Barbadian woman was remanded to Dodds Prison today, after appearing in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court charged with murder.

Chief Magistrate, Ian Weekes remanded Shakira Carlann Blackman, 31 of 4th Avenue Park Road, Bush Hall, St Michael, until December 30.

Blackman was not required to plead today, after being arraigned with the murder of Shanice Miller.

Miller, 27, received numerous stabs about the body during an altercation with another woman on November 28, and ran to the Central Police Station on Coleridege Street, before collapsing outside the gates of the station.

She died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the early hours of the next day. (BA)
