King claims first BTA crown

Darian King captured his first Barbados Tennis Association (BTA) crown with a convincing straight set victory over Matthew Foster Estwick at the National Tennis Centre tonight.

King, the island’s best player, added another chapter to his marvelous storybook to win 6-1, 6-2 in 1 hour and 28 minutes.

King, 29, won match-point when Foster-Estwick hit a backhand return long.

Earlier, The overseas-based Gabrielle Leslie defended her crown in incredible fashion, defeating rival Chambers 6-2, 6-3 in a repeat of last year’s final. (AGB)
