44 test positive for COVID on Christmas Day

Forty-four new COVID-19 cases – 19 females and 25 males – were identified by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory from the 411 tests carried out on Saturday, December 25.

Of this number, three under the age of 18, while 41 were 18 years and older.

One hundred people were in isolation facilities and 869 in home isolation.

The public health laboratory conducted 465 055 tests since February 2020, and recorded 27 673 COVID-19 cases (13 163 males and 14 510 females).  The deaths from the viral illness remain at 260.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 155 497 (68.1 per cent of the eligible population).

The number of people who are fully vaccinated is 142 832 (52.7 per cent of the total population or 62.5 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
