Christmas Day may have come and gone, but the Barbados senior netball team has been promised help with qualifying for next year’s Commonwealth Games.

Minister of Sport Dwight Sutherland said Government would do all in its power to ensure the Bajan Gems book a spot at the Games in Birmingham.

“We will ensure that our women make the Commonwealth Games,” Sutherland said during an official tour and site visit of the mini stadia and lighting project last week.

“They have not failed to make it. I am seeing writings saying that they will not be attending the Games. They have the opportunity to make those Games and we will do everything within our powers as a ministry to make sure our netball team goes to the Games next year.”
