247 new virus cases

A total of 247 people – 98 males and 149 females – tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) on Wednesday, December 29, from the 1 366 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The new cases comprised 38 people under the age of 18, and 209 who were 18 years and older.

People in isolation facilities numbered 117, while 875 were in home isolation.

The public health laboratory has carried out 469 077 tests since February 2020, and recorded 28 310 COVID-19 cases (13 437 males and 14 873 females). Deaths from the viral illness remain at 260.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 155 732 (68.2 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 143 321 (52.9 per cent of the total population or 62.8 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
