More than 60 Barbadian students are now awaiting the final word on their 2020 CAPE and Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) results.

This, after Barbados Court of Appeal heard final submissions from attorneys for both sides and reserved its decision in the case, where lawyers here had requested a judicial review of the controversial 2020 results, seeking leave to appeal the substantive decision by a judge in the High Court last year.

“We have a genuine hope that the court allows the matter to be fully ventilated by way of appeal. The Court of Appeal has been efficient and expedient thus far in treating with the application and, consequently, it is reasonable to be expected that we will receive and we are hopeful of receiving a decision in short order,” the students’ lead attorney Liesel Weekes told the Weekend Nation yesterday.

She had indicated before that she would be willing to go as far as the Caribbean Court of Justice to get a final word on the issues. (BA)
