Coolidge – If the West Indies selection panel stays true to stated policy to place high value on performing players, then Raymon Reifer gave them more than one hundred reasons yesterday why he could be a part of their plans for the middle-order batting of the Test squad.
The Barbados Pride left-handed all-rounder hit a composed 106 to prop up the Cricket West Indies President’s XI batting against England in their tour match in Antigua on the third day of the four-day contest at the Coolidge Cricket Ground.
Drawing on his vast experience honed playing for the Combined Campuses & Colleges and Guyana Jaguars (now Harpy Eagles) over the past decade before finding favour with Pride this year, Reifer was one of the few bright sparks in the President’s XI batting.
He struck 15 fours and two sixes from 182 balls in 255 minutes at the crease to lead the President’s XI to 264 all out, in reply to England’s first innings total of 466 for six declared. (AR)
