Members of the disabled community were able to relax and enjoy themselves yesterday courtesy of Special Envoy for Persons with Disabilities, Roslyn Hurley.
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hurley was able to again host her outdoor event, this year on the grounds of the National Botanical Gardens, Waterford, St Michael. She thanked everyone involved as she said it was a team effort.
“This is a very important day . . . . This is a beautiful place to let your hair down and enjoy yourself. I want to thank everyone who worked hard to make this happen as it is not [me] alone,” she told the gathering.
Director of the National Disabilities Unit, John Hollingsworth, said members of the disabled community had been indoors for two years so this was an opportunity to give them access to the outdoors and mingle with others.
“This is one of the events for the Month Of The Disabled, under the theme Inclusion: Living Without Limits,” he said. (CA)
