Roach pleads for pacy pitch

Horrible.

That’s how West Indies leading fast bowler Kemar Roach described the docile pitch in Antigua, and is now hoping to get a faster surface at Kensington Oval when the second cricket Test against England starts tomorrow.

Both teams have arrived on the island and took part in full training sessions yesterday in the lead-up to the all-important second Test of the Apex three-match series for the first Richards-Botham Trophy.

The opening Test last week at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua ended in a draw on a flat pitch, leaving the series level 0-0.

The Windies Indies were fined 40 per cent of their match fee and penalised two ICC World Test Championship points for maintaining a slow over-rate after being two overs short of the requirement after time allowances were taken into consideration. (AG-B)
