A 28-year-old Barbadian has been sentenced to ten years in United States federal prison for attempting to coerce and entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.

Shaquille Alexander Thornhill, who listed himself on his Instagram page as DJ Shaqmed, who lived in Brooklyn, New York, was unknowingly involved in a police sting to catch predators who go after children for sexual activities.

Thornhill, who left Barbados in 2019 to work as a deejay in New York, was jailed last week.

According to reports posted by the US Department of Justice, on April 15, 2021, he responded to an online advertisement on skipthegames.com offering sex in exchange for money. The ad was posted by law enforcement officers. (MB)
