Football in Barbados is at the cross-roads and is crying out for some initiatives to take it forward.
Former national coach Keith Griffith says he is hurt to see the depths to which the men’s game has fallen, with the team conceding 24 goals in its last five matches.
The women have struggled as well, letting in a combined five goals without reply against El Salvador and Belize.
Griffith wants to see the revival of the women’s league and the establishment of a primary schools programme.
“To be honest, our football at the moment, both the men’s and women’s, are on the downward curve. We need to stop, take a deep breath, find out why we are playing so poorly and seek . . . to improve the performances,” Griffith told Weekend Sport yesterday. (MK)
