Police investigating a suspicious smell coming from the home of an elderly man on the corner of Griffith Land and Black Rock Main Road, St Michael discovered what appeared to be a body.

Officers were initially denied entry by a woman, and on their second visit to the home of Anthony Mings, she was taken into custody after they discovered a decomposing body in the yard.

Residents said Mings, 81, a known character and land owner from the area, had been ailing for some time, but after a while, disappeared from his usual verandah visits.

The identity of the body has not been confirmed at this time. (AC)
