Government will do all it can to complete recovery work of those affected by last year’s weather systems.

The assurance has come from Minister of Home Affairs and Information Wilfred Abrahams.

“We had last year over 3 000 reports of damaged properties, households, public infrastructure and utilities, [and] fallen trees. While a lot of work has been done by [the Ministry of] Housing, UDC (Urban Development Commission) and RDC (Rural Development Commission), we have not managed to complete all, but a lot of work has been done,” he said.

Abrahams was speaking during the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) annual press conference at the start of each hurricane season which got underway yesterday, where he noted many state agencies had been working non-stop to assist those who were most vulnerable and in need. (RA)
