Dr Courtenay Chase has denied she was in charge of Warren Mottley’s care.

The doctor made the denial as she spent her third day on the witness stand when the Coroner’s Inquest into Mottley’s death continued yesterday.

“I was never in charge of Warren Mottley’s care. I was always under advisement from Dr Griffith and Dr Farnum,” she said when questioned by Queen’s Counsel Sir Elliott Mottley.

“They were in constant communication. I was examining (Warren Mottley), assessing him and relaying that information to my superiors who determined his care,” Chase said.

The doctor maintained Mottley’s clinical signs were not in keeping with sepsis but added she preferred not to comment on the “thoughts or assessments of the other doctors”. (HLE)
