Eugene – Sada Williams advanced to the women’s 400 metres final at the World Athletics Championships on Wednesday in this American city.

The 24-year-old Barbados national record holder produced a season’s best time of 50.12 seconds to finish 0.14 secs behind Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist Marileidy Paulino in the third heat of the semifinals.

Williams, who narrowly missed out on the Olympic final last year, got off to a great start and ran a near-perfect curve to qualify with the fourth fastest time.

The final is set for Friday night.
