The Barbados Statistical Service (BSS) has suspended the census.

This organization says it is aware of “the videos circulating on social media relating to the sale of items regarding the Population and Housing Census”, but advised the public “the individual in the video is NOT associated with, nor is authorised to conduct business on behalf of the Barbados Statistical Service”.

A media release on Friday stated: “The safety of our staff and the Barbadian public is paramount, and to this end we have engaged the Barbados Police Service in this matter.  As a result, the Barbados Statistical Service has suspended Census enumeration until further notice.

“The public is also reminded that all Officers of the BSS are governed by the Statistic Act, Cap. 192, which prohibits all employees from divulging information collected on individuals and individual businesses.

“For further reference, please visit our webpage www.stats.gov.bb, or call 535-2600.” (PR/SAT)
