COVID-19 Update for August 12

A total of 307 people, 121 males and 186 females, tested positive for COVID-19 from the 926 tests conducted on Friday, August 12, by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The cases consisted of 45 people under the age of 18, and 262 who were 18 years and older.

There were 80 people in isolation facilities, while 4 221 were in home isolation.

An 87-year-old woman passed away from the viral illness on Friday.

As at August 12, there were 516 COVID-19 related deaths.

The public health laboratory has conducted 742 069 tests since February 2020, and recorded 97 411 COVID-19 cases (44 061 males and 53 350 females).

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, the number of people with at least one dose is 163 051 (71.4 per cent of the eligible population).

The number of fully vaccinated is 154 166 (56.9 per cent of the total population or 67.5 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents those who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
