Leaders in Barbados have been urged to take a leaf out of the book of Reverend Canon Ivan Henderson Harewood, who impacted the lives of many people in many ways.

The call came from Reverend Canon Dr Stephen Fields as he delivered the sermon at yesterday’s funeral for Harewood at Christ Church Parish Church.

Fields said Harewood, who died on August 15 after a brief illness at the age of 85, had a fruitful ministry since 1975 and influenced the lives of many, including his own.

“To say that Ivan passed away is far from the truth . . . . People who have passed away, have done just that, passed away. They have lived and died and have made no impact on the lives of others. On the other hand, like Ivan, like many others, they did not pass away, they passed this way. There is a gulf between passing away and passing this way, and my friend did not pass away, he passed this way.” (RA)
