COVID-19 update for September 14

Another 43 people have been detected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), health authorities in Barbados reported on Thursday.

According to a news release issued through the Barbados Government Information Service, 16 males and 27 females – including nine young people under the age of 18 – tested positive for the viral illness from the 337 tests carried out on Wednesday, September 14, by laboratories across the island.

At the time of reporting, there were 36 people being treated for the illness in government isolation facilities, and 330 being monitored under the home isolation programme of the Ministry of Health & Wellness.

The authorities also indicated that 163 510 people (71.6 per cent of the eligible population) have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine under the national vaccination programme for the viral illness.

The total number of people now considered fully vaccinated stands at 154 528 (57 per cent of the total population or 67.7 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population is anyone 12 years and older.
