COVID-19 update for September 18

Another 37 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), health authorities in Barbados reported on Monday.

The authorities said in a media release issued through the Barbados Government Information Servicce that 23 males and 14 females – including a single young person under the age of 18 – was detected with the viral illness from the 231 tests conducted on Sunday, September 18, by laboratories across the island.

The media release stated that 32 people were being medically treated for the illness in government isolation facilities, and 325 were being monitored under the home isolation programme of the Ministry of Health & Wellness.

Health authorities also reported that 163 584 people (71.6 per cent of the eligible population) have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine under the national vaccination programme, and the total number of people considered fully vaccinated now stands at 154 577 (57 per cent of the total population or 67.7 per cent of the eligible population).

The eligible population is anyone 12 years and older.
