Health authorities reported on Thursday that another 45 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Barbados.
The authorities stated in their daily news release issued though the Barbados Government Information Service (BGIS), 27 males and 18 females – including 10 young people under the age of 18 – tested positive for the viral illness on Wednesday, September 21, from the 388 tests conducted by laboratories across the island.
At the time of reporting, there were 33 people being medically treated in government isolation facilities, while 298 were being monitored under the home isolation programme of the Ministry of Health.
The health authorities also indicated that 163 611 people (71.6 per cent of the eligible population) have been administered at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine under the national vaccination programme.
The number of people now considered fully vaccinated stood at 154 630 (57 per cent of the total population or 67.7 per cent of the eligible population).
The eligible population is anyone 12 years and older.
