Barbadian endurance swimmer Mark Farmer wrote his name in the history books when he successfully completed the gruelling swim of the English Channel on Wednesday in 12 hours and 19 minutes.

In cold and choppy water, Farmer, 37, battled rough currents, especially in the last quarter of the swim as he completed his swim from the starting point at Sapphire Hoe, Folkestone/Dover, England to France.
