A flash-flood watch is in effect for northern, northeastern, western and central parishes until around noon today, but could be upgraded to a warning.

A flash-flood watch is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) could result in flash flooding within the watch area. It does not mean that flooding will occur.

The InterTropical Convergence Zone, in combination with a low-level trough system, continues to affect Barbados.

Over the past 24 hours, between one to three inches of rainfall was recorded across parts of the island. Localised activity during the late morning and into the afternoon across northern, northeastern, western, and central parishes is likely to generate further accumulations of up to three inches.

Due to the already saturated nature of the soils, any additional rainfall is likely to cause flooding. (PR/SAT)
