Five Barbadian cyclists will represent the island at this weekend’s Caribbean Cycling Championships (CCC) which commence tomorrow and conclude on Sunday in the Dominican Republic.

Accompanied by team manager and Barbados Cycling Union (BCU) vice president Livingstone Headley, the five-member team of defending CCC road race champion Joshua Kelly, his younger brother Jacob, newly crowned national road race champion Gregory Vanderpool, Jamol Eastmond and Edwin Sutherland, will attempt to improve on the country’s performance at the 2021 event also in Dominican Republic last August.

On that occasion, the CCC was held in conjunction with the Pan American Road Cycling Championships and Kelly rode to victory in the road race and finished second in the time trial.

Among the women, Amber Joseph won gold in both the CCC road race as well as the Pan American Championships’ Road Race. (NM)
