Sheraton Mall trial under way

More than 50 witnesses are expected to be called in the Sheraton Mall murder trial which began in the No. 3 Supreme Court yesterday.

Six men and six women have been empanelled to hear evidence in the trial of Hakeem Roberto Stuart, who is accused of murdering Damian Trotman on March 21, 2019.

Trotman, formerly of Foursquare, St Philip, was shot in broad daylight in the precincts of the Sheraton Mall on that date.

Stuart, 24, formerly of Shelbourne Gap, St Lawrence, Christ Church, has pleaded not guilty. He is being represented by attorneys Andrew Pilgrim KC, Kamisha Benjamin and Sian Lange.

The State’s case is being presented by Director of Public Prosecutions Donna Babb-Agard KC, and State Counsel Romario Straker.

Three police photographers gave evidence yesterday, showing photographs taken at Sheraton Mall on March 24, 2019, at Oistins Police Station, and at a residence in Kendal Hill, Christ Church, on the same date. (BA)
