A proposal to establish a ferry service for the Eastern Caribbean does not include Barbados in any of the four possible routes.

The document, The Proposal For The Implementation Of A Ferry Service Through Public Private Partnerships (PPPs), was prepared by Diogo Aita, an associate economic affairs officer at the Economic Commission For Latin America And The Caribbean.

The service proposes to link nations from Guyana and Suriname in the south to the ABC islands in the south-west as well as Puerto Rico and Antigua and Barbuda to the North.

Route 1 comprises Colombia, Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Trinidad and Tobago; Route 2 is Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Suriname; Route 3 links Puerto Rico, Antigua and Barbuda, Guadeloupe and St Lucia and Route 4 is St Lucia, St Vincent, Grenada and Trinidad and Tobago. (Nation News)
