In-form filly Joqular will attempt to close out the Barbados Turf Club’s calendar year on a winning note today when she lines up against five others in the 1 570 feature grade 1 inaugural running of the Robert J. Bourque Boxing Day Stakes and Trophy at the historic Garrison Savannah.

With leading apprentice Teshawn Hazelwood aboard, Joqular, which is owned by Darwin Clarke and Paul Doughty, targets a hat-trick and will be very hard to oppose in this Grade 1 event which is scheduled to run off at 6 p.m.

Trainer Charles Williams has really brought her out fighting fit since taking over control and she has delivered on both occasions with something in reserve.

While victory will go a long way in Hazelwood becoming champion jockey, he is guaranteed to win the apprentice title even if he loses. (LY)
