The 2022 year-ending script could not have been written any better for top Barbadian trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.

His charge Skippylongstocking not only won the final Stakes race for 2022 but also secured a berth in the US $3 million dollar Pegasus World Cup Invitational in Hallandale Beach, Florida on January 28.

Joseph, 35, of Thorpes Garden, Holders Hill, St James enjoyed a phenomenal past year, sweeping all three trainer’s championships at his base Gulfstream Park.

In what was another record-breaking year for Joseph, Skippylongstocking won last Saturday’s 10th and penultimate race – the Harlan’s Holiday Stakes – a Grade 3 worth US $150 000 to sign off the championship on a winning note.

Joseph averaged a win-percentage of 21, won 174 races from 823 starters for record earnings of US $10 147 409. (LY)
