UPDATE: Visitor stabbed

A 40-year-old female visitor from the United States was stabbed in the chest during an attempted robbery along Brownes Beach, St Michael in the area of the Bay Street Esplanade.

According to the report received by police around 7:43 p.m. on Thursday, she and her husband, who are staying at the nearby Hilton Barbados, were walking along the beach when they were attacked by a man.

An altercation ensued and the woman sustained a stab wound to her chest. She and her husband were taken to the hospital by private vehicle for medical attention.

Her injuries were listed by medical personnel as serious and she reportedly underwent emergency surgery.
