So Suave issued a serious warning to all comers to the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup in March, with a compact two-and-a-half length debut win yesterday at the Garrison Savannah.

The six-year-old bay horse, who is owned by Nalicia Cozier, won the feature Coolmore “Home of Champions” Stakes & Trophy over 1 800 metres before a packed crowd.

The Jean-Marc Cozier trainee, who arrived on the island from Woodbine last week, sat mid-pack behind front-runners Joqular and Bodie Tap while travelling alongside Brillant News.

Approaching the paddock bend, the leading duo went at each other carrying the pace all the way back to the home straight with both horses fully extended. (LY)
