It was extreme speed from Amani Mascoll-Beckles as he enjoyed a triple qualifying treat for the CARIFTA Games while there was also a triple jump of joy for Aaron Massiah on Sunday at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

Mascoll-Beckles, a Lodge School sixth-former and Extreme Velocity sprinter, went under the qualifying mark with career-best times in both the 100 metres and 200 metres when the Athletics Association of Barbados staged its January Classic.

While Mascoll-Beckles, who had already qualified in the 400 metres at the New Year’s Classic, was heating up the track, winning the 100 metres in 10.55 seconds from Talons’ Aragorn Straker (10.72), Massiah was making his mark in the sand pit.

Massiah surpassed the required 13.80 metres for the Under-17 Boys’ triple jump with a hop, skip and jump measured at 13.82 metres. (EZS)
